Ingredients:

  • 1–2 teaspoons dried echinacea root (or an echinacea tea bag)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • (Optional for taste) a slice of lemon, a few mint leaves, or a bit of honey

Instructions:

  1. Steep: Place the echinacea in a mug and pour 1 cup of boiling water over it. Cover the mug (to keep the aromatic compounds in) and let it steep for about 15 minutes. Echinacea root benefits from a longer steep to extract its properties.
  2. Strain & Serve: If using loose herb, strain out the echinacea. If it’s a tea bag, simply remove it. The tea will have an earthy, slightly bitter taste. You can drink it plain or add a bit of honey to sweeten (and lemon or mint to enhance the flavor).
  3. How to Use: Drink this tea at the first sign of a cold. You might drink 1–2 cups a day for up to a week. Some people also sip a few cups a week during winter as a preventive measure.

(Note: If you prefer, echinacea is also available as ready-made tinctures/drops. Follow the dosing on the package if using a store-bought tincture.)
